Mouth Guards are a MUST for Summer Sports!

Hey y’all! School is out and summertime is here! Let’s talk about your kiddos and playing sports, going to camps, or rough housing with their siblings.

One of the greatest joys each summer is getting to watch our kids partake in extracurricular activities! Some activities include physical contact and have the possibility of causing trauma. In order to protect our littles, we ensure they wear protective gear from helmets to knee pads. Just like protecting any other body part, we highly recommend wearing a mouth guard to protect your beautiful smile. Wearing a custom-made mouth guard can reduce the chance of having an emergency dental visit. According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry (AAPD), children are twice as likely to have an emergency dental visit when they do not wear a mouth guard. Custom-made mouth guards can even help reduce the severity of concussions if they were to have a collision, according to a recent systematic review.

So whether your child is attending volleyball camp or playing some pickup basketball game down at the park, you might want to consider having one fabricated for them to wear.

We hope y’all have a great summer and if you need to get out of the heat come by and see us! We keep it cool at WFD!
